Many kids like hip-hop and António Miranda is no different. Born on 24 November 1981 in Portugal, he grew up with Michael Jackson, Mark Hamer and Kris Kros. Already at a young age he showed some real talent for drawing, but what he really wanted to do was making music.

 

When he met a group of guys that made hip hop, António didn´t hesitate and joined the “Piratas do Ghetto¨, as they called themselves. Their performances at school parties thought young António how to use a stage and what to do with a microphone.

 

When he turned fifteen he was asked to dj at school parties and from then, slowly, his dj´ing career took off. First with the regular pop songs, but soon he started playing music from his parent´s roots: Cape Verde!

 

Clubs in Lisbon noticed his dj´ing skills and hired him. For five years he played in club N´Guenda, where he picked up his stage name ´Loony Johnson´.

 

Only dj´ ing was not enough for the creative guy. He made albums and produced songs with the help of Cape Verdean singer Gil Semedo.

 

History was made when Kaysha showed up in one of the clubs where Loony was playing. He didn´t hesitate and gave one of his cd´s to the world famous singer and owner of the Sushiraw label.

 

Kaysha like it, alot! Together they made ´Angel´ and the cooperation was a success. Loony signed with Sushiraw and in 2006, made a complete album with hit songs like ´L in the Air´, ´Sexy Night´ and ´ Africana´.

 

Although Loony likes singing, he´s still a kickass dj. So no surprise that he makes kickass beats for Just Jay, Nelson & Toet Star and done some work for the former label Miss Jane Records.

 

In 2010 the second album of Loony at Sushiraw was released, loaded with all new zouklove songs where the beat can´t be missed.
